Inspired by true events that are too over-the-top for even the wildest imaginations to conjure, CASINO JACK lays bare the wild excesses and escapades of lobbyist Jack Abramoff (portrayed in the film by Two-time Academy Award® Winner Kevin Spacey). Aided by his business partner Michael Scanlon (Barry Pepper), Jack parlays his clout over some of the world’s most powerful men with the goal of creating a personal empire of wealth and influence. When the two enlist a mob-connected buddy (Jon Lovitz) to help with one of their illegal schemes, they soon find themselves in over their heads, entrenched in a world of mafia assassins, murder and a scandal that spins so out of control that it makes worldwide headlines.
Casino Jack will open South Florida Theaters January 7, 2011.
The advance screening will be held on January 4, 2011 @ 7:30pm
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend this preview, so I will need someone to take attendance and pictures in my absence. Â To get passes, please leave a comment below. Â I will try to get as many as I can out. Â Each pass gets 2 people in.
As this incredible year comes to a close, we are rapidly approaching what some would consider the most highly anticipated movie ever.
Over 22 years ago, in 1982, we were first sucked to the Grid, rode lightcycles, flew Solar Sailers, and faced off against the Master Control Program.
Now, it’s time to grab your identity discs and get ready to go back to where it all started.
Date: Tuesday, December 14th
Location: Regal Sawgrass IMAX (yes, you read that right)
This is the final #geekviewpreview of 2010 and it has been over 3 months in the making.
You honestly have no idea how much has gone into arranging us to get these extremely rare tickets.
For those of you who have never been to a #geekviewpreview, you are in for a real treat IF you get there early.
Like each sneak preview previously, no seat is guaranteed and they are first come, first serve.
Just to give you an example of how determined people are to get into these showings:
For “The Social Network”, the line started at 4:00pm for the 7:00pm show.
For MegaMind, it was worse, with people lining up starting around 3.
For Harry Potter, the line actually started at 10:00am and was at least 50 people deep by 4:00pm for a 7:30pm show. Â Eventually, the line stretched the length of the AMC Aventura at least 3 times and filled 2 theaters.
So if you’re chosen, be prepared to get there early and stand in line (just like a Disney ride smack in the middle of the summer).
By now, you’re probably asking yourselves, just how will **I** be chosen. Â Well, that’s actually a good question.
It would seem that ever since I teased this announcement on Twitter, it has already gained quite the interest:
For your faithful following of my Twitter feed, prompt responses, and amusing conversation, you’re all in. Â Congrats.
For your prompt responses on Facebook and your enjoyable company at the previous #geekviewpreviews, you will get to join us too.
Now, unlike the previous showings, these are not 2 for 1 passes. Â If you get chosen, it’s you and you alone. Â Don’t worry about not knowing anyone because we’re an awesome group of people and we always have tons of fun. Â I just need to make this restriction so that the most people can go who’ve never been to one of our #geekviewpreview before.
So now comes the free-for-all for the 5 remaining tickets.
Log in using your Facebook or Twitter account below and leave a comment telling me why you think you should be chosen to go.
Extra consideration will be given to those who talk about any of the following:
the first time time you saw the original TRON
what you remember most about the original TRON
what about the original TRON inspired you
what you thought was the geekiest moment (or dialog) in the original TRON for its time and why it stands out or its cultural significance
links to photos that display or demonstrate your devotion to all things TRON
more ideas/suggestions to come as I think of them…..
Don’t rush into this. Â Take your time. Â Please be as detailed or specific as possible. Â The better the story, the more likely you’re going to be in the running.
The deadline for entry is 10:00 pm ESTFriday night, December 10th.
Winners will be announced Sunday night, December 12th.
